| Something to say: | Hi there, thanks for looking at this profile. Feeling a bit reluctant about mailing strangers? Wondering whether you'd live up to other penpallers' expectations? Do read on! I'm open to anyone but perhaps even more so to those thoughtful souls who have by now been reading a couple of profiles of people with lots of activities and friends and think: great for you, but my own life isn't entirely like that. Mine isn't. :-) I had a wonderful time at uni, where I got a culturally-oriented degree and made a couple of great friends, but this is now some fifteen years ago and these people from the past now seem to prefer spending time with their family. This leaves me, as someone whose preferred social activity is just talking about what we think and do rather than anything more active, with few occasions to hear from others (and throw in a thought or two of my own). (In real life it's a bonus when this activity involves generous amounts of crisps, but admittedly we'd be having quite an argument with certain laws of nature when trying to share crisps over email so I'll just have to imagine them.) So if this is a situation you recognise or sympathise with, why don't you send a couple of lines and perhaps things will go well between us. For the sake of honesty I'll add that I'm a (hopefully mild) case of Asperger's, which I think expresses itself mainly through limited ability to navigate our hectic society. It's why I don't have paid job - just saying because I wouldn't want to disappoint people who are looking only for penpals with perfect lives. Contrary to what you may think after reading the above, I have a vivid interest in the daily goings-on in other people's lives. I suppose the kind of penpal I'm thinking of would be interested in chit-chat about what happened when doing the shopping, as well as discussing more serious thoughts. It's a plus when you can sprawl some jokes through your messages, even more so if you can manage some 'so bad they're good' puns. ;-) Apart from what happens in our own lives, I'd welcome any thoughts you might have about for instance cultural or philosophical topics. On the other hand, I know very little about sports, music, technology or indeed a myriad of other things that are admittedly somewhat outside my areas of interest. Am looking for email only, from both sexes (and all variations thereof, as the inclusive society would have it). No romantic interest - well, perhaps unless you happen to be really really rich. :-) ('Do you always write this much?' Erm, yes.) |
